By Thursday, Moxie reported going through the Cape Cod canal. By Saturday, Moxie and crew were about 25 miles from Sandy Hook, where Adrian was planning on making landfall to pick up some fuel and possibly sign in with US customs. After a 5 hour battle with following seas against a strong tide, Adrian picked up a mooring at Atlantic Highlands NJ, just outside the entrance into New York Harbour and had a well deserved rest. He picked up some fuel but was unable to raise a customs official to come to the boat, so decided to push on and have an official meet the boat when he got to Deltaville. He continued the voyage down the Jersey Shore, around Cape May into Delaware Bay, through the Delaware Chesapeake canal and down the Chesapeake Bay, anchoring a night somewhere off Annapolis and arriving in in Deltaville Tuesday evening, Sept 16, clearing customs Wednesday morning. Adrian flew back to Nova Scotia on Thursday.
Can't say enough good things about our delivery captain Adrian and how fast and efficiently the boat was delivered to Deltaville. Debbie and I are extremely grateful to have Moxie safely delivered to a place where we can easily start our trip down the Intracoastal Waterway. We have our flight booked to Richmond Virginia on October 14, right after Canadian Thanksgiving. My appointment with Dr. Bell is on October 8, and baring any unforeseen complications, should get the Green light to continue with our slightly delayed voyage.
